I found these “Workouts for the Road” for when you can’t make it to C3 and want more than the Mobility Wod. Enjoy!

This smoothie has gotten me through
times when I want a small meal or something sweet. Really yummy. Tastes like cherry vanilla ice-cream.

    Cherry Almond Smoothie

    1 cup frozen bing cherries
    1 cup unsweetened almond milk
    1 Tbs almond butter
    1/4 tsp almond extract
    1 scoop protien powder

Swirl it all up in a blender and enjoy. Hope everyone makes it through the weekend with flying colors.

WOW I have awesome friends! Went to game night tonight and my friends actually made paleo food. It was quite delicious! My roommate made red pepper and walnut dip served with veggies. Here’s the recipe:
    3 roasted red peppers
    1 cup walnuts
    1 T honey
    1 T lemon juice
    1/2 t ground cumin
    1/4 t crushed red pepper
    1 T olive olive oil

Combine all except olive oil in food processor. With processor on add olive oil slowly. Process until creamy. Season with salt and pepper. And VOILA!

Today I really enjoyed my paleo dinner while family and friends enjoyed their traditional feast. Afterwards, I sat and loved how good I felt while watching everyone rub there bellies, belch and complain that they just should not have eaten all that and asking for rolaids or tums 🙂

If you haven’t read Rob Wolfs info on Vitamin D, watch this. And if you have read it, watch this. I take 5,000 a day, and am going to start giving my son 2,000 a day. I’ve been taking it for a few weeks now and feel better, more balanced … Anyone else out there feeling better since taking it?

I got my first REAL pushup today!!!
All it took was a little Tequila and I did five of them! I was so excited I wet my pants a little. No I am not kidding. Probably had something to do with the Tequila and laughing really, really hard. Do I get a point for utter honesty?

    Crossfit Mama – congratulations!!!
Mark and Sarah, she definitely deserves a point for honesty 🙂

My roommate Erica had a great suggestion for when you’re craving an oatmeal cookie. ‘ A chai tea bag.’ Of course she meant a plain tea, not a latte. But it left me with a visual of all of us coming into c3 with a teabag string hanging out if our mouths….. I have to admit I have felt that desperate:/

Ok so staying100% was even more difficult than I imagined , lost a couple points BUT did a million times better than I would have had I not been doing this! I didn’t even eat my own birthday cake which is a xmas miracle, lol!!!

Greg, I agree with you about feeling good about your food choices. I stuck with Paleo for my whole trip to NH and felt great about it. I don’t feel like I missed a thing, and didn’t crave all the baked goods that I would typically indulge in. I was wary of foods that were prepared by “non-paleo” people even when they said it was healthy. We all know that the term “healthy” is defined differently by individuals. I do think that my portion sizes may have been larger than normal and I ate more fruit than I’m used to (because that’s what happened to be available), so I look forward to getting back into my routine.

    Congratulations on your push-up Danielle!!!

Some people were asking about the Paleo Apple Crisp that I made so I’ll share the recipe I used.

    Paleo Apple Crisp

2 cups blanched almond flour (I used almond meal)
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    ½ teaspoon nutmeg
    ½ cup coconut oil
    ¼ cup honey
    1 tablespoon vanilla extract
5 medium apples, peeled, sliced, then chopped in half width-wise

In a large bowl, combine almond flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. In a smaller bowl, combine oil, honey and vanilla. Stir wet ingredients into dry. Place apples in a 8×8 pyrexbaking dish. Crumble topping over the apples. Cover and bake at 350° for 50 minutes on low rack. When apples are soft and their juices bubble, remove cover and bake 10 more minutes to brown crispy. Serve warm

I doubled the batch and made one dish using macintosh apples and one dish using granny smiths. People were pretty split on which one they liked better, just depends on the person.

    Hope to see everyone soon!

    Coconut Pancakes/Crepe

    4 eggs
    1/4 cup coconut flour
    1/4 tsp vanilla extract
    1 pinch nutmeg
    1 pinch cinnamon
    1 tablespoon honey
    1/4 cup coconut milk

Mix these ingredients and let them sit for five minutes. Oil your pan and heat over medium heat. Pour about a 1/4 cup of batter for each crepe, allowing each side to brown before flipping it.

    Drizzle with honey and berries.

These are pretty thin so you can also add eggs and turn them into a breakfast burrito.

Lindsey, that looks so good. I think I’ll make them for breakfast tomorrow.
    Danielle, good job!

Jane was it you who pointed out that Jones Sausage is sugar/crap free? Tedeschis was the only store open yesterday and they carry them in the freezer section. Really good! thanks!
