Because of the varied levels of athletes that could be in a class, the elite athlete could very easily look down on the lesser one. I have yet to experience or see this.
I can’t speak for the whole community, but for me it means being proud of myself for all I have accomplished…instead of getting stuck on all of the areas I still feel inferior. CrossFit is WAY more enjoyable that way:)
I agree with Tom and Kristin 100%. I have never felt inferior at all. I also feel that CrossFit can be extremely humbling on certain days, but you can’t let a tough workout discourage you. When I am discouraged, the best thing I can do is show up the next day and try again. Speaking of tough workouts, today was a bit of a doozy. 34:40, scaled k2e and rope climb.
Valid viewpoints, to me Leaving the ego describes an approach to scaling the workout, as in not being so competitive that I might try to lift more than is beneficial and is possibly harmful. One might ask how I came to this opinion? The painful way of course!
To me it means don’t compare yourself with other people’s capabilities. Work at your pace and keep striving to do your best.
37:25 sub 1 rope climb for 3…and darn it that was tough!!! Thanks to john, Sarah and Erin for helping me get through that last round!
33:10. Checking my ego means showing up for wods like these, where I know I’ll get a great workout, but will not compete time wise with light body weight guys
That was tough!!! 34- something. I did 6 climbs instead of 9
Checking my ego- ANYTIME I think I’m going to do a wod and it won’t be that “bad” I’m always humbled! Not
Doing all the rope climbs today to avoid tearing- all ego stuff!
Tough WOD!! 32:40
