“One of the key factors that affect the body during alcohol consumption is decreased testosterone levels. Testosterone is the most important muscle-building hormone in the body. Free-flowing testosterone levels determine how much muscle one can gain. However, adding alcohol into the mix increases cortisol, a muscle-wasting hormone, and increases the breakdown of testosterone. When testosterone is broken down, it converts into estrogen. An increase in estrogen leads to increased fat and fluid retention. Interestingly, this is why those who drink substantial quantities of alcohol usually have larger waists and less muscle mass.”

    Yet another way to make turkey burgers.

    1 lb ground turkey
    8 oz diced green chilies (canned)
    2 tsp ground cumin
    1 tsp chili powder
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    a good handful of chopped cilantro
    1 tsp kosher salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper

    Mix it all up in a bowl and form into patties and cook em up. I had one for dinner last night over a big green salad and topped it with homemade guac. Delish.

    You know you are far into the challenge when you are trying to make turkey burgers interesting!

    O.K. I have to tell you… You guys are doing awesome! You are ALMOST DONE. Greg B is looking forward to his Mexian food March 1… CrossFit Mama is looking forward to not dreaming about recipes…Bushy is trying to think of just ONE MORE DRINKING TIP before the end, and Gabe is trying to find the perfect speedo to wear to the party….

    Kristin P has visions of blue cheese dressing and Greek yogurt with honey dancing in her head…and eating either will certainly feel like Christmas!

    The following things inspire me to continue: Danielle’s ever shrinking band in Pull ups, Erin handing me my butt regularly in wods, Sarah killing the back squat, Liz’s 20lb PR on the DL, and for Drew: WOW is all I got, etc etc! There has been so much progress made in the last few months…you all amaze me 🙂

    Kristen, thanks for saying what you did. True confessions. I cried today. Haven’t been able to workout because of being sick and now feel overwhelmed just at the thought of it. I feel like I have hit a wall or something. I know it is just this last push and we all have to summon everything we have got to finish strong. I am just struggling. Tell me someone out there feels the same way?…………
